How To Stay Warm In Modest Skirts Part 2

Hello dear sisters I'm back again with more tips on how to stay warm in the winter cold, the weather forecasters predict another inch of snow so I thought I'd write another article sharing my personal tips on staying warm on snowy days. These tips will most likely be focused on how to stay warm when doing outdoor activities in the snow.

1.Snow boots: Keep your feet dry. Wear boots that are waterproof and breathable. If your feet sweat the perspiration will make them wet, and you want to make sure no amount of snow or water can enter the boots. You can buy snow boots just about anywhere.

2.Socks: Put on socks that are made of fleece or wool instead of cotton to keep your feet warm in the snow. Cotton draws the moisture to your skin making your feet colder. Make sure the socks go at least up to your nee or to were your boots and bloomers meet.

3. Three layers: The layer closest to your skin should be soft, smooth and comfortable and most importantly, draw the moisture away from your skin (so no cotton) The middle layer should trap air pockets around to increase warmth, a fabric like polyester fleece would be great for this. The last/outer layer should block wind and snow but allow moisture to escape.

4.Muff: Yes there still around, the muff is a small , thick, tubular case for the hands, covered with fur (fake) or other material, used by women and girls for warmthThey work excellently and were used quite often by Victorian ladies on top of gloves, work well while skating.

  • 5. Gloves: gloves should be layered with a warm lining. A wind-proof shell is always great for keeping moisture out and longer cuffs increase the warmth. Never were gloves with no fingers or that are made from a thin material while "playing" in the snow.

  • Psalm 147:12-18

“Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!… He gives snow like wool; He scatters

the frost like ashes. He casts forth His ice as fragments, Who can stand before His cold? He sends

forth His word and melts them He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.”

    6.
Flannel bloomers: these are made of a thicker material than regular cotton bloomers and although cotton bloomers are great for keeping warm, they aren't so great for outdoor snow activities

    7. Pack warm food and drinks: Sometimes all you need in chilly conditions is hot food or drink. Good ideas are soup or noodles, how coco and warm coffee  Keep these in a flask and carry them around. Warm food and drinks will warm you inside and keep your strengths up.

  • 8.Move as much as possible. The more you stay moving the more blood circulates throughout your body keeping you warm in the snow.
  • 9.Avoid natural fibers, especially next to your skin. There are some wonderful fibers like cotton and wool, and they have been in use in cold and wet climates for many years. This is because they were the best available years ago. But now there are much better synthetic fabrics available, which do a better job of keeping you both warm and dry.

    10. Wear a hat that covers your ears to keep warm in the cold and snow. As from head covering I would suggest a more bandanna styles as it will probably stay put better, and the hat or head covering should block the wind and it's wise to also wear a scarf with the hat.

    11. Jean skirts: Are my number one skirts for outdoor activities in the snow, they are breathable and still thick enough to keep you warm. However I would advice  wearing a flannel petticoat or underskirt underneath the jean skirt in order to keep moisture away from the skin as much as possible.

Whether your skiing for fun or sledding with your kids these tips are sure to help. I hope this article has blessed you in some way! God bless dear sisters!

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering

    the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without

accomplishing what I desire. And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you

will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into

shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”
