Plainly Dressed Christians

Hello dear sisters! Today I wanted to share with you all a wonderful post I found. Enjoy:) 

I am a stay at home Mother, with firm convictions in the area of family life. We believe if at all possible a Mother should homeschool her children, we believe in dressing modestly, modest meaning long dresses, skirts, jumpers, clothes that are not tight and revealing. We also believe in courtship, very limited amount of TV, being under submission to authority, Wife to husband, children to parents. But so many times, when a family starts to believe this way, it is so different than the rest of the world, that you focus on it a lot, training your children about why they should wear a dress, why they are homeschooled, why they are not allowed to date, etc. But this all leads me to a question. Have we become to focused on this area of the family, allowing this to become the definition of Christianity? Do we judge a fellow Christian based on the fact that they have a TV in their home, or that the wife might have a pair of pants on? Now don't get me wrong, I know that sometimes the outward appearance does speak volumes for what the heart is believing. But let me share this example. My adopted Grandma Dorthy was the most perfect older Titus 2 woman that I have ever known. She was such an example of faith to me, she always had a testimony to share, her spirit was so sweet, and she was strong in the faith. She raised four children with her husband, and was from what I hear, a wonderful wife and mother. But she didn't wear dresses, and did not homeschool her children. So, should we discard all the testimonies and the sweet spirit that she carried based on the simple fact that she wore pants? Absolutely not!

I don't want to sound harsh here, but this has been heavy upon my mind for some time now. We may think that surely we don't judge someone for these reasons, but examine your heart, and your actions closely. "Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23, 24

If I have a woman come up to me and inquire about the way that I dress and share that she is thinking about making a change in her wardrobe to more modest dress, amd I going to tell her that it's no big deal, and she can keep wearing her jeans? NO! I will share everything I can with her regarding why I am convicted, and the importance of dressing pure. SO I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking that it is not important to me. It is a subject near and dear to my heart. But, it is only one small step that leads us closer in our walk to our Lord and Savior. If a woman wears dresses, and homeschools, but has not charity, humility, a meek and a teachable spirit, than she needs to step back and examine her life carefully.

Am I a testimoney of such a woman? No. Perhaps that is why this subject is so dear to my heart. I am like the woman I wrote about at times. But I am trying to change, and with my dear husands encouragement, will hopefully make some progress.

Let me enourage everyone who reads this, press forward in your walk of serving God. Everything we do is so important, let us consider the whole Gospel message. 

Christian Modesty

The Blessings Of Covering Full Time

Hello dear sisters! Today I wanted to share with you all why I cover (wear a prayer covering) full time. I started wear a veil/prayer covering full time in October, now I know on my blog I teach that I believe women's hair to be their covering in nature and women need a covering of cloth for prayer. You may ask, why then do I wear my covering full time(all day)? And so I am going to list the reasons I cover full time:) 

1. Constant Prayer: The Bible calls us to be in a state of constant prayer and it also calls women to cover their head while in prayer so wouldn't it make sense to wear a covering it all times instead of telling God to hold on every time you need to thank Him, ask Him or rejoice in Him?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God 

in Christ Jesus for you.

2.Not Flaunting The Glory Of Women: So in the Bible it's calls women's hair their "glory". I don't believe it goes along with modesty to flaunt or wear one's hair in a flashy style. So wearing a prayer covering for me also goes along with dressing plainly and modestly as the Bible commands. 

1 Timothy 2:9 

Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-

control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire

3. Compelled by  God: MOST IMPORTANT! I spent many hours praying and asking the Lord for guidance on this matter. I felt completely and totally guided and compelled by God to do this for Him.  

Proverbs 2:1-5 

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear 

attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight 

and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden 

treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

The Blessing Of Covering Full Time: 

1. Prayer CAN BE constant: Prayer can continue throughout the day with no struggles, rather then having to run to get a veil anytime I feel the need to talk with God or say a meal prayer even I can just go about my business and still be in a constant state of worship and prayer.

2. Vanity Is Not (Much) Of An Issue: I hardly waste anytime in the mirror trying to make my hair look perfect anymore.

Proverbs 31:30 

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

3. I Feel Like a Christian: We are to be set apart and I feel a prayer covering is a great way to look set apart for Christ.  


Romans 12:2 

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing 

you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

3 Misunderstanding About Plainly Dressed Christians

 Hello dear sisters! I hope you all are having a blessed day! Today I wanted to talk about the most commonly heard misunderstandings about plainly (and modestly) dressed Christians. Here we go! 
1. We want attention : This is the most common one I've heard. People assume that when you dress in a plain modest style you want all eyes on you, this isn't the case. Rather most Christians are simply following this verse (not only with dress but with actions)

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by 

testing you may discern what is the will of God, 

what is good and acceptable and perfect.

As you can see here the Bible calls all women (and men) to be set apart for the Lord, shouldn't dressing modestly be apart of that as it says in 1 Timothy? Yes maybe we'll be given funny looks by people of this corrupt world but when the Bible is so clear on this point, does it matter? We aren't seeking the attention of people of this world rather we are looking for the attention and approval of God.

2. We believe this is a salvation point: Dressing modestly is NOT going to save you. It's the inside that should be pierced by the Lord before the outside is even considered. Modesty IS important because the inside should reflect the outside. But dressing modestly is NOT a salvation point. 

3. We look down at others: another commonly heard misunderstanding people believe is that because we are dressed like this we believe our-self's to be better than other people. This is certainly NOT the case, we are ALL only human we ALL make mistakes, we ALL fail we all try to do better. WE dress modestly and plainly out of order form the Word of God. This doesn't mean we think immodestly dressed people are dirt and beneath us.

Weight-loss Week 2: Weight Loss Wednesday

So I have lost a little weight, Unfortunately I don't own a scale (going to buy one soon) But anyway,  I think the pictures will help determine my weight lose until then. Cinnamon Fruit Salad
You'll Need: 
Sliced Banana's 
Sliced Strawberries
Sliced Pears
Handful of grapes 
Handful of Pecans 
Tsp. Cinnamon powder 
Directions:
Wash all fruit. Put all ingredients (except cinnamon powder) in bowl. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and eat.

Good Morning Prayer

In the name of out Lord Jesus Christ I will begin this day. I thank you Lord, for having preserved me during the night. I will do my best to make all I do today pleasing to you and in accordance with your will. Dear Lord watch over me today .Help us to live as new people in pursuit of the Christian ideal.
