God Doesn't Care What You Wear

Hello dear sisters, today I wanted to talk about a common misconception about modesty in the Bible. That is that God doesn't care how we dress and that He looks at the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature,

because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward

appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

This is completely correct, GOD doesn't look at your clothing, but MAN does! When we get dressed in the morning we don't dress modestly so that God will not stumble, we dress modestly to help our brothers in Christ not stumble! (1 Corinthians 8:13). The Bible commands modesty, not for God for He is almighty, all knowing and cannot stumble, but  for His people. wanted to make a quick point of this. God bless!

Why do you have to dress modestly to "help" us Christian men? We want you to be beautiful and instead we're made to be like as to a villain or rapist. I'm a Christian, and I'm fully capable of not lusting on normal people. It makes us feel like a hero when if you dress immodestly you let the responsibility be on your husband or father to tell you that it's inappropriate. Then we feel empowered and helpful. Look at headship. If you dress immodestly, God won't judge you but will judge whoever's your head. So don't "help" us men, instead be beautiful, and give the responsibility to be modesty to your headship where it ought to be.

You are so right! It so annoying going to school, with an "army" of girls dressed in yoga pants. It's there uniform today; everybody does it. It's so nice to see somebody somewhere trying to get away from that garbage. As a man, what message does a girl think she's sending to the men when she's dressed so immodestly?! Do they really want us to look at them that way???? Do their husbands? Do they have a choice!? I don't know. But I can't give into the "eye candy" and all the flirting, because it will weaken me. Once I give into that, the all my other passions get stirred up and I know that, ultimately, it can only lead to death.

Dear Sister, you are right God looks at the heart. He knows our struggles and fears. He wants what's best for us. Modesty affects everyone, even the women that wear the clothes. I have seen this point proven biblically so many times, how we should not be stumbling blocks. I wanted to add another aspect to modesty that many either don't know or don't consider. Modesty is for your health just as much as it is to keep from being a stumbling block. Leaving the limbs exposed chills the body and the blood shifts to the torso making it harder on the heart to pump blood to the extremities . This causes women to fall victim to many diseases that could have been avoided if she was fully clothed. What God requires of us is for our own good and for the good of man kind. Thank you for sharing, blessings.

Men and women should dress in a modest fashion. When they are talking about "God does not see ones outward appearance", in those times, and in many part of the world, to show status they wear gold/silver/precious stones in clothing.

Akin to high end designers goods in the West.

Modest, is wearing fitting clothing, clothing without obscene designs. Modest is taking your hat off when you go inside. Modesty cuts both ways, and only focusing on one genders modesty/virtue, only leads to problems.

For to say "women need to dress more modestly" is to attack the virtue and honor of men. While to criticize men for dressing immodestly, is to attack a group that is already under harsh tribulation.

So such measures need to be evenly measured.

You are so right when you say that God doesnt care about what we wear, but man does, and we send out a message about ourselves - our sense of modesty, self-respect etc. every time we step outdoors. My husband and I set our own Christian dress code many years ago, and for more than a decade I have restricted my wardrobe to button-up blouses and skirts. I have long since gotten used to this routine and cannot imagine, or wanting, to wear anything else. God bless you.

Look at Linda Rika YouTube testimony. Six hours in hell two hours in Heaven. Three preachers eligible for Heaven out of five million people. Never changed pants on women. Read Matthew 22:11-13 clothing only keeps a man from Heaven. Lord is it you in the dream? Lord am I eligible for Heaven? Ask God. Many people never ask.
