Should Christians Get Tattoos?

Hello dear sisters and brothers! I hope you all are having a blessed New Years Eve, I'll be posting my New Years's post tomorrow. Today I wanted to talk with you all about whether or not Christians should get tattoos and if it's a Biblical thing to do. So let's go straight to the Bible and see what it says about tattooing and "marking" ones body.

Leviticus 19:28 -

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I [am]

the LORD.

As you can see here the Bible clearly states that one shouldn't mark his body with tattoos. Now let's say the Bible never even mentioned tattoos but we still had two key things in the Bible to go off of.

Is it modest?

1 Timothy 2:9 -

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest

apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided

hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Think sisters what is more plain and modest? surely not a body
covered in ink. God created us in His imagine let us not cover it
with ink, rather let us dress with shamfacedness and modesty. Tattoos covering the body isn't modest, we as Christians are to strive to dress simply, not with heavy adornments and in a way you could count tattoos as an adornment of the body, permanent adornment.

Are you set apart for God?

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by

testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Brothers and sisters I have stressed this in other articles and I will say it again we as Christians are supposed to separate for God. We are not only to act but to look different from those who don't follow the Bibles teachings. We are to strive everyday to react differently, talk respectfully, dress modestly (men too) and just overall project that of Christ's image

Your Body is not your own.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which

ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

We are Christians our body's are not our own, we have no right to mark up the temple of the Holy Ghost. Our bodies where bought with a price, they are not our own but belong to the Lord. Let us as Christians keep our bodies as God has made them and not alter them with ink injected into our bodies.

Health Risks:
I did some research on different websites and here's what I found.

1. Allergic reactions. Tattoo dyes — especially red, green, yellow and blue dyes — can cause allergic skin reactions, such as an itchy rash at the tattoo site. This can occur even years after you get the tattoo.

2. Skin infections. A skin infection — which might cause redness, swelling, pain and a pus-like drainage — is possible after tattooing.

3. Other skin problems. Sometimes bumps called granulomas form around tattoo ink. Tattooing can also lead to keloids — raised areas caused by an overgrowth of scar tissue.

4. Bloodborne diseases. If the equipment used to create your tattoo is contaminated with infected blood, you can contract various bloodborne diseases — including tetanus, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

5. MRI complications. Rarely, tattoos or permanent makeup might cause swelling or burning in the affected areas during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams. In some cases, tattoo pigments can interfere with the quality of the image — such as when a person who has permanent eyeliner has an MRI of the eye.

It's not worth the risk!

Please dear brothers and sisters of Christ let us dress modestly and be set aprat for God. I pray this article has helped you all in some way, and I hope you have all are having a very blessed New Years!

Bible Verse OTD: Honor Thy Mother and Father

Ephesians 6:1-4

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is

the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long

in the land.”

Colossians 3:20

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this

pleases the Lord.

Exodus 20:12

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days

may be long in the land that the Lord your God is

giving you

Proverbs 20:20

If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be

put out in utter darkness.

We never know the love of a parent till we become parents ourselves.

Henry Ward Beecher

To maintain a joyful family requires much from both the parents and the children. Each member

of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of the others.

Let it Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow

The weather forecaster where right! A good inch and a half of snow, I love snow. When I was younger I loved sleighed riding with my brothers, but nowadays I just like watching it snow with a cup of hot cocoa in hand, or eating chocolate chip cookies.

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” ~Genesis 18:22

Jonah (our Boarder Collie ) is very found of the snow, sometimes I'll look in the backyard and see him ether eating it or jumping around like a bunny in it:)

“Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold. From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen.” ~Job 37:9-10

How To Stay Warm In Modest Skirts Part 2

Hello dear sisters I'm back again with more tips on how to stay warm in the winter cold, the weather forecasters predict another inch of snow so I thought I'd write another article sharing my personal tips on staying warm on snowy days. These tips will most likely be focused on how to stay warm when doing outdoor activities in the snow.

1.Snow boots: Keep your feet dry. Wear boots that are waterproof and breathable. If your feet sweat the perspiration will make them wet, and you want to make sure no amount of snow or water can enter the boots. You can buy snow boots just about anywhere.

2.Socks: Put on socks that are made of fleece or wool instead of cotton to keep your feet warm in the snow. Cotton draws the moisture to your skin making your feet colder. Make sure the socks go at least up to your nee or to were your boots and bloomers meet.

3. Three layers: The layer closest to your skin should be soft, smooth and comfortable and most importantly, draw the moisture away from your skin (so no cotton) The middle layer should trap air pockets around to increase warmth, a fabric like polyester fleece would be great for this. The last/outer layer should block wind and snow but allow moisture to escape.

4.Muff: Yes there still around, the muff is a small , thick, tubular case for the hands, covered with fur (fake) or other material, used by women and girls for warmthThey work excellently and were used quite often by Victorian ladies on top of gloves, work well while skating.

  • 5. Gloves: gloves should be layered with a warm lining. A wind-proof shell is always great for keeping moisture out and longer cuffs increase the warmth. Never were gloves with no fingers or that are made from a thin material while "playing" in the snow.

  • Psalm 147:12-18

“Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!… He gives snow like wool; He scatters

the frost like ashes. He casts forth His ice as fragments, Who can stand before His cold? He sends

forth His word and melts them He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.”

    6.
Flannel bloomers: these are made of a thicker material than regular cotton bloomers and although cotton bloomers are great for keeping warm, they aren't so great for outdoor snow activities

    7. Pack warm food and drinks: Sometimes all you need in chilly conditions is hot food or drink. Good ideas are soup or noodles, how coco and warm coffee  Keep these in a flask and carry them around. Warm food and drinks will warm you inside and keep your strengths up.

  • 8.Move as much as possible. The more you stay moving the more blood circulates throughout your body keeping you warm in the snow.
  • 9.Avoid natural fibers, especially next to your skin. There are some wonderful fibers like cotton and wool, and they have been in use in cold and wet climates for many years. This is because they were the best available years ago. But now there are much better synthetic fabrics available, which do a better job of keeping you both warm and dry.

    10. Wear a hat that covers your ears to keep warm in the cold and snow. As from head covering I would suggest a more bandanna styles as it will probably stay put better, and the hat or head covering should block the wind and it's wise to also wear a scarf with the hat.

    11. Jean skirts: Are my number one skirts for outdoor activities in the snow, they are breathable and still thick enough to keep you warm. However I would advice  wearing a flannel petticoat or underskirt underneath the jean skirt in order to keep moisture away from the skin as much as possible.

Whether your skiing for fun or sledding with your kids these tips are sure to help. I hope this article has blessed you in some way! God bless dear sisters!

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering

    the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without

accomplishing what I desire. And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you

will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into

shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

Bible Verse OTD: A Godly Women

    Proverbs 31:26

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

    Proverbs 14:1

The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.

    Proverbs 31:20-21

She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow

for her household, for all her household are clothed in

    scarlet.

"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity" (Margaret D. Nadauld,)

    Why Dress Modestly?

This is a commonly asked question among Christian girls and women. The questions here is why dress modestly? What this boils down to is three main things.

    1. Why obey God? As Christian our number one goal should be to honer and obey the Lord, if the Lord says love your neighbor than we are to love our neighbor even if it seems impossible. The same thing goes for modesty, if the Bible says it we are to do it, without hesitation. Dressing modestly in today's world can seem near impossible, finding modest clothing in and of itself can be hard! (one of the reasons I love sewing). But what we must remember sisters is the Jesus was nailed to a cross, He DIED for us! One of the major things as Christians that we can do for Him, is to obey His commands! To show our love for Him by obeying His word!

2.Why help our brothers sin? When we don't dress modestly we are helping our brothers in Christ (whether they are Christians or not) to sin. If a man to looks lustfully at a women he is not wed he is sinning and has committed adultery of the heart.

    Matthew 5:28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with

    her in his heart.

As you can see in this Bible verse it is a sin to look at a women lustfully, now what most women will tell you is "It's the man's fault can't he control himself? ". My answer to that is this:
    a. Men are built much differently than women, men. We cannot pretend to know what they think or how hard it is for them to stay pure of mind.
    b. There are men who WILL NOT even try to control there thoughts. Let us as Christian not be (partly) responsible for the sins of others. You wouldn't give a person a gun to kill someone, that would be assisting in a sin. So why then sisters would we assist our brothers in sin by dressing immodestly?
    1 Corinthians 8:13
Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I

will not cause him to fall.

    3. Why be separate for God?  Why dress differently than other people, well sisters not only are we called to dress different we are called to dress differently! When people see you they should know you are a Christian, JUST by looking at you! They should see that you aren't just like them or the rest of our fallen world, that you are separate for God. People should be able to tell in the way you act, respond to situations and how you dress!

     John 17:15-18

I do not ask that you take them out of the world,

but that you keep them from the evil one. They are

not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As

you sent me into the world, so I have sent them

    into the world.

    Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be

transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by

testing you may discern what is the will of God,

what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Please sisters look into your heart and you will see the truth! Let us dress, act and BE different

from this fallen world. God bless dear sisters!
